About Us

Thanks for stopping by to learn more about me. I’d love to connect, so don’t be shy to reach out in any of the many social networks, I’d be happy to converse about life with you.

On MyFamilyOnABudget, I write about, but not limiting myself to:

So, who am I? I’m so glad you asked! 😉

My name is Steve and I currently reside in a medium town called Sandwich, IL (yes, the Sandwich jokes are real). I am currently 33 and am happily married to my wife of 9 and 1/2 years and have two little girls, Evelyn (4 years old) and Natalie (2 years old).

One of the reasons I decided to start this web site was to chronicle our financial journey as well. We’ve come through quite a bit and I hope that we can inspire others to get out of debt, create a budget and grow their net worth.

I work for a local cellular company where I do outside sales as well as technical repair. I really enjoy the tech aspect as I get to play with all kinds of new technology and have an excuse to learn about all kinds of new apps and how to introduce people to smartphones and newer technology. I became a stay at home dad on July 29th, 2016 to focus more on taking care of our little ones. I plan to “do life” with them until they are both full time in school and I can go back to work, or if I get something going from home before then.

fpu-legacy graphics about pageI am a coordinator that teaches Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University, a 9 week small group class that teaches people how to create and win with a budget using conservative money principals and handle money God’s way. I have led the class 4 times and have really enjoyed getting to see people work together to get a better handle on their finances. I have seen tremendous success with the program myself and would recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about how to handle their money better!

I am a coordinator for Dave Ramsey’s The Legacy Journey as well. It’s a seven week, biblically based class that teaches you how to truly live and leave a legacy for generations to come. This class will lead you deeper into investing, basic estate planning, purposeful living, safeguarding your legacy, and discovering the keys to generational wealth and true generosity. Through video teaching, class discussions and interactive small-group activities, you’ll learn a biblical framework for living intentionally now so that later you’ll be able to leave a legacy that will secure your family’s future and make a lasting impact on the world around you.

GetConnectDad LogoIn August 2016, I’ve become a guest author on GetConnectDad, a group of 150 Authors in 15 Countries, Writing on 52 Traits We Want In Our Kids and growing all the time!

Their mission is simple:

GetConnectDAD is a group of parents from around the world who are committed to becoming more connected to their children through a simple message:  More quality time as a family results in more connected kids. What started off as a simple writing exercise has grown into an international team who are writing on a simple series:  “52 Traits We Want In Our Kids.”

So, there you have it. A little about me and what I would like to talk about in the future. I look forward to interacting with you in the future!
