Little Progress, But Progress Regardless3 min read

I would say that my weight loss would look something like the above image.

Here we are, more than halfway through July and I haven’t updated you on my weight loss journey. I’m sure you are all losing sleep over it, haha. I haven’t made much progress since the last time we checked on June 29th, where I was at 210.7. Today I came in at 209.2. So, I’ve lost 1.5 pounds in 18 days.

I’ve been rather lax on my calorie counting as I’ve been busier in other areas of life. I’ve started a challenge with running. And our whole family even signed up for the YMCA, due to my wife getting a major discount through her work.

Progress Chart

As you can see, my overall progress is still looking very good. I am 10 days shy of 3 months now, but feel as though I am starting to plateau a little bit. Although I did have a win today: I was under 210 pounds for two days in a row for the first time! So I am pretty stoked that I am on track for another dip soon!

 Eating

My eating habits are still going fairly well, although I haven’t been tracking in MyFitnessPal lately. I am still watching what I’m taking in, although yesterday I did treat myself to a Monster Thickburger Combo from Hardee’s. It was good, but man did I have a big lump sitting in my stomach an hour later! I haven’t eaten out much lately though, which is a good thing.

It’s been tougher this past month because we’ve been going to more parties and I have a lot more temptation around. I have to try to distract myself if I can so that I don’t just binge eat considering I am still eating pretty fast.

Working Out

I have hit full swing in my workouts once again, getting more into my cardio. I have been starting to do two new things that I hope to keep going for a while to come.

C25k Challenge App

I have downloaded the C25K Challenge app, which trains you incrementally to be ready to nonstop run a 5k at the end of 8 weeks. I just finished week 2 yesterday.

There are 3 days in each week, with each week getting a little harder. For week two, you start off with a 5 minute warm up walk and then alternate 6 rounds of 90 seconds of running with 120 seconds of walking followed up by a 5 minute cooldown walk. I could feel the extra 30 seconds of running and completed 2 of my workouts on the treadmill.

I’m looking forward to checking out week 3 starting this weekend.

YMCA

We joined the YMCA near my wife’s work this month since we could get our whole family in for only $15 a month. They have 5 different places we can visit and 4 of them have water parks. That was the big draw for us since we wouldn’t have to fork over big money to try it out at the big ticket parks. We will have to get out there and see how the girls like it if we can get a weekend to ourselves!

One of the things I like about the YMCA is that they have childcare while we are working out. I love being able to work out with my wife, but, it’s almost impossible to do with the kids and the fact that we are at different stages. We have committed to start going every Wednesday night after work for between 30-60 minutes.

Well, that’s all for today. I will get more in later as I have more news to update! Still pushing to get under 200!
