Our Story of Working the Baby Steps Since May 2011

To get free updates of new posts Click Here Before my wife and I first started out on Dave Ramsey’s plan, we were trying to do many different things at once. We were trying to get out of debt, save, invest for retirement, do discretionary sinking funds, and everything else we could think of all at the same time. I thought that I knew it all and had a plan to work on everything at once and eventually, in 15-20 years time, I would have everything done. I had gone to church and a person I didn’t know at the time […]

How To Cash Flow Emergencies When You Don't Have An Emergency Fund

How To Cash Flow Emergencies With No Emergency Fund

Emergencies happen all the time. Dave Ramsey commonly says “it’s not if they will happen, it’s when”. We know that we have to prepare for unexpected events to come up and rear their ugly head at some point. How do you handle emergencies when they happen? There are people out there that use a credit card as their emergency fund. Heck, for a little while we have done this as we build up ours. I don’t recommend going this route as common sense would ask, “why are you adding more debt during an emergency”? As we build our emergency fund, we are […]

How To Make a Budget In 3 Easy Steps

Creating a budget can be a very empowering or scary experience to some people. Too some people, they don’t want that monster to come out of the closet and tell them exactly what they are spending each month. To others, it gives a sense of control where they feel they really are telling their money where to go and giving every dollar a name and a place to march off to with a set of orders. If you’ve ever had a hard time creating a budget, you’ve come to the right place! I have laid out in 3 easy to […]

2 months down, progress has been made!

So, here we are. Two months in, just over 60 days. My weight loss journey has been rather successful so far. I’ve learned to eat in a whole new way from using better portion control to giving up red meat. I’ve started exercising and learned how to overcome trials when they arise and not to overdo it when trying to make the most of my sessions. I’ve tried to continue to stay active even in a time when it’s hard to get out and exercise. And those darn exercise rings, they are just too tempting. My Progress So Far  Here is […]

Does Your Budget Constrict or Empower You?

When was the last time that you created a budget? What was the experience like? Do you still budget month to month? Everyone has their own opinions about the dreaded “B” word. Yes, I’m talking about the budget. Depending on who you talk to, some people might shudder at the very word or thought. Others open up and you can tell that they feel freer than ever. They feel the budget helps them stay accountable and helps them get control of other aspects of their life as well. Why is this? What is it that gives people horrible memories about […]

Father’s Day Weekend

Father’s Day was great! We got to see a lot of family, spend time with our dad’s and get to do something special as a family. I hope you had a great Father’s Day as well. I thought I would just take some time to share what we did! Saturday Morning – Errands Saturday morning was all about getting some loose ends tightened up. I had to get the tires rotated and stopped by our church to drop off some cookies for a memorial that was going on there. While stopping in, I found out that the church’s sound computer […]
